Placed majestically on a man-made island just offshore near Dubai, the Burj Al Arab is a spectacular example of the type of architecture that has made Dubai the centerpiece of the UAE. Designed by Tom Wright of the architecture firm WKK Architects in 1993, it is the type of achievement that makes me proud to be a human being.
